“They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives” (Ezekiel 33:5 New Living Translation).
There are so many warning signs around us. They’re for our own good, though we sometimes don’t like them or pay attention to them because they seek to control us.
However, if you love yourself and others, you won’t ignore warning signs you see anywhere including warning signs on the road.
Above all, the Word of God contains several warnings for the sinners and for the saints. Paying attention to these warnings will preserve our lives. Ignoring them will lead to danger, the greatest being eternity in hell fire (Matthew 5:22, 27-30, 18:7-9, Mark 9:42-48, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21).
Unfortunately, many are ignoring the warning signs in the Bible. God is not to blame for whatever consequences people eventually experience for ignoring these signs. Ezekiel 33:5 says, “They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives” (New Living Translation).
Don’t live in denial. Don’t disregard or deny the warning signs of trouble. If you do, you’re only setting up yourself for evil. God forbid!
Thomas Andrews designed the Titanic which people rumoured was unsinkable. But she sank on April15, 1912, just four days after she set out. Out of the 2,200 persons aboard, over 1500 persons died while 705 survived.
It was discovered thereafter that the Titanic drowned, among other things, because the crews ignored six radio transmissions warning of icebergs.
Don’t ignore warning signs. Differentiate between faith and foolishness! Don’t ignore warning signs of danger in your business transactions or relationships whether family, marriage, business, ministry or any other. Be wise. Don’t live like fools (Ephesians 5:15).
Some young persons in courtship are currently seeing warning signs of danger in their marriage in the future but they’re ignoring them. They just want to get married!
Sadly, many who did that in the past are in trouble today. They saw the warning signs of unfaithfulness, a controlling and abusive husband, a nagging and violent wife, etc. but ignored them. Today, they wished they had quit the relationships then.
If your car is showing a warning light, it is only wise for you not to ignore it but promptly do the needful to avoid any unpleasant situation. The same is true of your health.
The message of some warning signs in life is clear enough to understand. Act appropriately. If the meaning is not clear to you or you don’t know what to do, PRAY about it. Hear from God. Don’t just ignore the signs. You may also seek counsel from the right persons (Proverbs 11:14, 24:6, 12:15, 19:20, 20:18). Live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38), but don’t ignore the warning signs.
PRAYER POINT: Father, I beg you, please help not to ignore the warning signs, especially those you send my way so that I do not sabotage my destiny.
