Conflicting reports have emerged following the death of five persons in an attack in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mathias Tyopev, confirmed the incident and the casualty figure to Channels Television on Thursday.
He said the incident was a fallout of a clash among miscreants claiming superiority in Raffiki, a community situated along Rukuba Road in the state capital.
Tyopev noted that the incident which occurred late on Tuesday at in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
The Commander of Operations Save Haven, Major General Austine Agundu, also said the Multi Security Task Force has increased surveillance within the affected area, as well as Jos metropolis.
He explained that this was aimed at ridding miscreants and gangsters, who have continued to perpetrate such act from major black spots and hideouts within the area.
However, the residents of the community have disagreed with security agencies, blaming the attack on herdsmen.
They said four persons were killed in the community while the fifth was murdered along the highway.
