(Opinion) Defections: Only time will tell

This is “good riddance to bad rubbish”.
From a superfluous point of view, it is congratulations to the Nigeria populace.
Our democracy is indeed evolving. But l do not think most Nigerians are seeing what l am seeing. This exodus does not represent the larger interest of Nigerians. Rather, it is self-serving, instead of national interest. It is an exodus propelled largely by individualistic dream of self-actualisation, a dream that will not impact or represent good interest of the nation at large.
I like to respectfully disabuse your minds, l am indeed an unrepentant optimist. Permit me to liken today’s development (good or bad, the choice is yours but read please).
I am sure most of us know moi-moi (bean dough) prepared in pack-milk tin. When it is cooked and ready to eat, the top is usually attractive with sweet smell. But it becomes disappointing when you start to eat this sweet, attractive and delicious delicacy, you begin to find “human hair, office-pins, particles of broken-bottles etc”.
That is the picture of the unfolding drama l see. For me, it is too early to start clinking of red-wine glasses. Again, l am an incurably optimist and l know, however, this hidden game of “political chess”, it shall come to an end some day, and that day is not too far from now but we need a reservoir of patience to get there.
On that day, we shall know the true friends of the Nigerian masses. For now, it is sitting in limbo.
