Weeks after he found his way to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) through the courts, Chris Giwa has been sent packing by security operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), who claimed to be acting on orders from above.
The operatives were said to have stormed the NFF headquarters to eject Chris Giwa and his team.
Giwa stormed the NFF to take over after a July 2 court order, and curiously got the backing of Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung.
The take-over co-incided with Nigeria’s ouster from the World Cup, even while substantive President, Amaju Pinnick, was performing official functions.
World football body, FIFA, has made it clear the putsch by Giwa was not acceptable to it, an indication it would soon slam Nigeria with a ban.
Monday’s action by the DSS is believed to be intended to pre-empt Nigeria’s ban by FIFA.
