Senator Ademola Adeleke, (Osun West, PDP), known to many as the Dancing Senator, has been declared the winner of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) governorship primary ahead of Sept. 22 election.
Adeleke scored 1,569 votes while Mr Akin Ogunbiyi, the Chief Executive Officer of Mutual Benefit Assurance, scored 1,562 votes.
Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, a former Secretary to the State Government, scored 56 votes while Mr Nathaniel Oke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) scored 3 votes.
Just last year, Adeleke won the Osun West Senatorial election after the previous occupant, his elder brother and former Governor, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, passed on. His celebratory dancing steps after he won, went viral.
Adeleke will now face Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Osun State Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Osun Primary Election Committee and Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, has charged the leaders and members of the Osun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to collaborate more and forge stronger unity ahead of the September 22, 2018 Governorship poll in the state.
The Governor said that for PDP to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), it must be cohesive: PDP leaders and members must work together, eschew bitterness and go into the polls as a strong and united people.
