Christians Only Material: God is not a liar

Must read

By Tope BANSO
“God is not a man, that He should lie” (Numbers 23:19a New Living Translation).
Whenever you find yourself crying for God’s deliverance and God seems not to be near, when your experience seems to contradict the Word of God, when the fulfillment of God’s promises appears not to be forthcoming in your life, remember the scriptures that tell you that God is not a liar and confess them. And this is not a mere consolation. You can rest assured that God will do what He says.
Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that he should lie. He is not a human, that he should change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (New Living Translation) 1 Samuel 15:29 says, “And he who is the Glory of Israel will not lie, nor will he change his mind, for he is not human that he should change his mind!” (New Living Translation)
God also says, “I have sworn an oath to David, and in my holiness I cannot lie” (Psalm 89:35 New Living Translation). Jeremiah 33:20-21 also refers to this covenant. Titus 1:2 says God cannot lie. And according to Hebrews 6:17-18, God has given us His unchanging promise and oath because it is impossible for Him to lie.
But when you’ve waited for long in the ‘waiting room’ of God for His promises to be fulfilled and you’re yet to see their manifestation, it seems as if God is a liar! More so, when you’ve seen others who came after you receive their answers.
When those who married after you, graduated after you, started work after you, etc. have been sharing testimonies of answered prayers while you’re still waiting for God, God may look like a liar.
God looks like a liar when your experience contradicts God’s Word despite living your life in accordance with His Word. But it is a lie that God is a liar!
Psalm 18:30b says, “All the LORD’s promises prove true” (New Living Translation). Psalm 12:6 says, “The LORD’s promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over” (New Living Translation). You may not understand why the answers to your prayers are yet to come, but don’t doubt God or His promises. Have faith in Him (Mark 11:22). Don’t throw away your confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens (Hebrews 10:35).
Don’t waver at the promises of God though their fulfillment is delayed. God told Habakkuk, “But those things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely the time approaches, when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient. They will not be overdue a single day!” (Habakkuk 2:3 The Living Bible)
God cannot lie. But His thoughts and His ways could be completely different from yours (Isaiah 55:8). Your time also may not be His time. There is a season for everything and a time to every purpose under the heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Keep trusting the Lord and keep praying, but know that your miracle(s) will never come before God’s appointed time.
PRAYER POINT: I refuse to doubt the promises of God; they shall come to pass in my life.
