The battle for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got more interesting Sunday with two-time Governor and Senator, and former national caretaker committee chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Maiarfi, declaring his interest in the most coveted office in the land.
He told journalists in Kaduna: “After wide consultations with party men and women as well as other major stakeholders, I have decided to seek the party’s nomination to contest the poll.”
Maiarfi declaration comes as former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, returns from Saudi Arabia to continue his nationwide mobilisation tour of PDP-controlled States to acquaint party members of his interest in being a presidential candidate on the party’s platform
It brings to two those who have publicly shown the interest to get the PDP ticket though the Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, has been touted as an interested party, too.
