Nine persons on Saturday escaped death in a ghastly auto crash involving two commercial vehicles which had a head-on collision in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The accident occurred along Old Jebba Road in the state capital shortly after the bridge on Oyun River.
Eye witnesses accounts said one person however died in the accident.
The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Sunday Maku, who confirmed the accident said eight persons comprising four males and four females sustained injuries, arguing that no victim died. He explained that nine people were in the two vehicles when the accident occurred.
According to him, the vehicles involved a Mazda 323 with registration number FUF 845 XA and another Mazda 323 with registration number KEY 609 XA.
The Sector Commander stated that the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking by one of the vehicles.
Maku had said; “the accident occurred at the Oyun end of the Old Ilorin-Jebba Road. It happened three kilometers from base.
“Two commercial vehicles: Mazda 323 with registration number KEY 609 XA and Mazda 323 with registration no FUF 845 XA were involved.
“There were nine people in the vehicles, five males and four females. Four males and four females were injured.
“Nobody was killed. Cause of accident is wrongful overtaking, initial referral is Olutayo Hospital.”.
