From Adedeji Joseph, Ilorin.
The factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB), has said restructuring the party would be the priority of his executive.
BOB was elected at a parallel state congress of APC on Saturday. His faction allegedly backed by Alhaji Lai Mohammed; the Information ad Culture Minister, is believed to enjoy the support of the presidency.
At a special press conference In Ilorin, Bolarinwa declared that APC’s doors are opened for those that belong to the other faction allegedly led by Dr. Bukola Saraki; the Senate President.
He appealed to the people of the state to keep faith with his leadership in what he termed a rescue mission both in the party and the State in general.
“We have been able to reclaim our party; the next move shall be to rescue our dear state of Kwara. My leadership will embark on the restructuring of the party in Kwara and open doors to those that have been deliberately shut out.
“We have always held that the party is poorly administered here and therefore a rescue team will be required to save the party.
According to Bolarinwa, one of the many reasons that almost brought the party to its knees is the insincere, over ambitious and undemocratic elements in the APC.
He accused members of the nPDP in APC in Kwara as those who were bent on destroying the party before they move to join another party in their usual manner.
“We have watched and carefully studied every inch of the members of the outlawed nPDP, particularly those from Kwara State.
“They have resolved to destroy the party and remain aloft until their new homes in Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and/or Social Democratic Party (SDP) are ready,” he added.
Bolarinwa remarked that the Senate President’s speech on Saturday that
he will teach Nigeria politics should not be taken with levity.
“We are bringing it to the notice of the party leadership, government and the world at large that such character with insatiable appetite for power should be closely monitored,” Bolarinwa said.
