The game of naming looters of the country’s treasury is taking an annoyingly laughable dimension as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) traded lists of alleged looters this weekend.
Taking up a challenge by the PDP, which asked it to name looters, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, at a press conference in Lagos, threw up a list of PDP members facing one form of trial or the other.
In response the National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Uche Secondus, released a list of mostly former members who are now in the APC-led administration he claims are looters who should go to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to return the loot.
In Lagos on Friday, Mohammed told journalists, “The PDP has challenged us to name the looters under their watch. They said they did not loot the treasury. Well, I am sure they know that the treasury was looted dry under their watch. Yet they decided to grandstand. This shows the hollowness of their apology.”
