Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause irreversible blindness with no symptoms.
Over 70 million people suffer from Glaucoma worldwide with 10 million already blind. In Nigeria about 2 million persons over 40 years have Glaucoma and 360,000 are estimated to be blind .
The Aso Rock Villa Médical Centre commemorated the World Glaucoma Week between 12th – 16th March with an Awareness Walk in Abuja metropolis on the 12th to mark the onset of activities and free eye screening for hundreds of Nigerians during the period.
