After seven hours of an executive session which held yesterday, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has opted to send a fact-finding team to Kaduna State where factional crisis is tearing the party apart.
This is coming as the two main groups – the offical that has the backing of the State’s Party Leader, Governor Nasir el Rufai, and a faction that has the backing of Senators Shehu Sani and Suleiman Hunkunyi – continue to stiffen their positions.
APC spokesman, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi, Thursday, listed the decisions of the National Working Committee to include:
“·         That the unfolding situation in Kaduna State is deeply regrettable and request all parties in the disagreement to maintain utmost decorum and give opportunity for true reconciliation. Consequently, the NWC has set up a three-man committee led by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Engr. Segun Oni to embark on a fact-finding mission to Kaduna State with a view to identifying the remote and immediate causes of the disagreement and the circumstance that led to the demolition of the house of Senator Hunkuyi.  The committee is to report back to the NWC within a week. Other members of the Committee are the National Auditor, Chief George Moghalu and National Woman Leader, Hajia Rahmatu Alliyu.
“·         In respect of Kogi State, the NWC reaffirms that that Alhaji Haddy Ametuo remains the Chairman of the APC in the state until the appropriate organ of the party decides otherwise in accordance with the party’s constitution.”
In Kaduna, the state government continues to insist that it did no wrong in pulling down the building, said to belong to Senator Hunkunyi, which was being used for he APC faction’s secretariat.
It maintained that the owner ran foul of the law by owing ground rents for eight years adding that the building constituted a nuisance in Sambo Close neighbourhood of Kaduna town.
The Governor’s aides insist that the unfolding political drama which led to the formation of a faction arose because some aggrieved politicians were seeking relevance following the announcement of the BolaTinubu-led Reconciliation Committee.
Meanwhile, the entire members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly on Thursday passed a vote of confidence on the All Progressives Congress (APC) national executive led by the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
Led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa on a visit to the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) at the National Secretariat in Abuja, the Adamawa lawmakers particularly hailed the leadership style of the APC National Chairman.

There is a tendency to have divisions and criticisms amongst ourselves at this crucial time. But most of the criticisms are not constructive and they hold no weight. That is why today we are here to register and show our appreciation and support to our state executive, the governor of Adamawa state and the national executive of our great party led by our national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
