Why Bitiyong and Kwassu were suspended from Kaduna Assembly

Must read

Details of why two lawmakers in the Kaduna Assembly, Dr. Bitiyong and Danladi Kwassu, were suspended by their colleagues show that their outspoken stance against goings-on in the State was their undoing.
“They were illegally and wrongfully suspended from the State House of Assembly indefinitely. They are both of the PDP, and it is sad their suspension was orchestrated by two of their own. As it stands now, there are only four out of six sitting members of the party because there are deep throats selling their birth right for a pot of porridge,” a source said.
Everyday.ng came across a piece of information circulating among top politicians and other stakeholders in Kaduna where it was alleged both men were targeted because they are the only two in the Assembly who have been stoic against the “ill-treatment meted out to different categories of people in Kaduna State due to wrong government policies.”
They include the dismissal of over 3000 Village and District Traditional Rulers;
*alleged payment the Fulani herdsmen that were killing people in Southern Kaduna and neglecting the victims;
*sacking of over 21,000 Primary Schools teachers;
*alleged destruction of homes and property of innocent citizens;
*alleged illegal sacking of over 4,000 Local Government workers;
*alleged unlawful arrests, detention and incarceration of journalists, among others
It was gathered that while all these went on, the State Assembly, primed to defend the citizens against the excesses of the executive played ostrich.
Moreover, the PDP in the House, it was learnt, failed to give credible opposition because the minority leadership was allegedly compromised.
One source directed attention to the plan by the Kaduna State Chapter of the PDP to change the leadership of the Party’s caucus in the Assembly.
Both men were to emerge as leaders of the PDP there, but instead heard to their shock they had been suspended without any trial, allegedly on orders from another arm of government.
“On Tuesday at Plenary, the Speaker was supposed to read the appointment letter from the PDP leadership but a motion was moved and seconded by two APC members, and without due process, the Speaker announced their indefinite suspension,” a PDP source said.
Everyday.ng could not confirm Sunday if information that a case was filed last Thursday in the State High Court to seek for reversal and compensation was true.
