President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the immediate disengagement from service of Mr Abdullahi Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms.
According to a statement by his spokesman, Mr. Mr. Femi Adesina, the President wrote a memo to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, demanding a full report of the circumstances of Maina’s recall and posting to the Ministry of Interior.
The report is to be submitted to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, before the end of work today, Monday, October 23, 2017.
Meanwhile, the Head of Service, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, in a statement from her office has said she had no hand in the recall and re-instatement of Maina.
“The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation wishes to inform the public that the re-instatement and posting of Alhaji Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina never emanated from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
“Consequently, the purported re-instatement and posting by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is totally erroneous and misleading,” the statement read.
Her position effectively puts a lie to a statement from the Interior Minister, General Lawan Dambazzau, last week putting the blame for Maina’s on her office.
Already, a gloating Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is calling for more heads over the embarrassing recall that put the back of the President and his party to the wall.
Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun a fresh manhunt for Maina, who appears to have gun underground, again.
