Anger is in the air in Anambra All Progressives Congress (APC) following allegations that one of the gubernatorial aspirants has been moving around with money to compromise delegates.
He is also accused of asking the delegates to swear to oaths to benefit from the largesse.
This is as Governor Willie Obiano won the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket in Awka, Anambra State to be its candidate in the November 18 Gubernatorial election.
Delegates from the 364 wards voted for the only aspirant in the primaries.
He promised greater prosperity to Anambra State and APGA.
In APC, Four thousand five hundred anticipated statutory and special delegates will vote to select who flies the gubernatorial flag of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in coming election.
In a press conference in Nzam, Anambra, Chief Damian Muo-Udevi from Anambra West council area oalleged that delegates were being asked to swear to an oath by the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member.
According to him, the aspirant is a “money bag politician who just joined the party from another discredited platform”.
Muo-Udevi, claims he was approached with the offer. “Why would a hitherto political party like the APC allow these trouble makers come in with so much air and at same time want to run roughshod of the bonafide members”
“They have been going round all the 21 councils of the state with bags of money since weekend luring and manipulating delegates to come swear to a multiple deity that they would vote the man”
He described him as “a failed politician”, adding, “how can a man who has played around in the presidency, National Assembly and Anambra politics for the past two decades without any single achievement want to come to govern Anambra state?
“It’s clear he has nothing to offer to the people.
“He has never validly contested any election in his life, instead he always use tons of cash to mesmerize and circumvent laid down rules and processes.
“That is clearly the reason he has been going around now dumping cartons of cash on the laps and doorsteps of all those he feels would be relevant in the Aug 19,2017 governorship primary where the party would elect who would be its standard bearer in the Nov 18,2017 election in Anambra state.”
“APC is bigger than any man’s selfish ambition”, he added.
State chairman of the party, Mr Emeka Ibe, told the media he was not aware of the development but encouraged aggrieved persons to speak out against inducement and coercion for appropriate disciplinary action.
Ibe himself had been accused of alleged compromise of his position as chairman by collecting money and a car from an aspirant.
