Upbeat EFCC raids Jonathan’s cousin’s premises in Bayelsa…for documents, cash

Must read

Apparently buoyed by its recent discovery of raw cash, mostly in hard currency, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) moved cross-country from the home of former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN), in Kano, down south to the facilities being developed by Robert Azibaola, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin, in Otakeme, Bayelsa State.
They were complaints of damage to some containers, machines and buildings in the process of finding what eye-witnesses thought cash. But neither cash nor documents were found in the raid.
“At about 1500 hours today, 13th April 2017, EFCC operatives invaded KAKATAR premises in Otakeme in Bayelsa State and vandalise containers, equipment and machines and damaged our buildings in the process,” company image-maker, Austin Ekeinde ,said in a mail.
“KAKATAR premises in Otakeme houses our construction equipment, machines and residential buildings and it not for the storage of cash or any other material, “ Ekeinde added.
EFCC has been on the bounce since recovering billions of Naira and hard currencies in Lagos, following tip-offs by whistle-blowers. From Kaduna to Lagos to Kano, and now, Bayelsa, it has been tales of commando-like operations to nip attempts to remove cash stored in the oddest of places.
Adoke, through an email by a source close to him, has claimed that a search warrant was not used in his Kano residence, but other sources in government say this is unlikely, going by the past modus operandi of the anti-graft agency.
